A year after the events at Guanyin Temple, the cultivation world hasn't changed much. Sects and clans condemn and slander in the name of righteousness, but behind closed doors scheme away to fulfil their lust for power.  

Unrest, greed and war is inevitable - bloodshed and the slaughter of innocents with it - unless the cultivation world can learn from their mistakes, and save itself from itself. 

Thus, with the aid of some divine intervention, the cultivation world is given the chance to watch the life and trials of the  Yiling Laozu - in full HD, too (not that it would make a difference to them). As the layers of hypocrisy and the rotten-to-the-core foundations of Sect politics are unveiled, hopefully the path to a future of reform and equality can be paved. 

For those involved in the story, it's a chance to clear up lingering misunderstandings. For the juniors, it's an exciting opportunity to see their beloved senior Wei and the awesome Hanguang Jun in action in the war they'd only ever heard tales about. For Wei Wuxian, it's just funny seeing how other people around him react.
