"EEEEEEE!!!" I squealed and Willa turned a bright shade of red. "He asked you!!!! My ship is sailing!!!"

"No!!!" Willa protested. "Kenric asked me to go to the galla as friends! Nothing more! It's not like he likes me or something!"

"Oh, he totally does. It's super obvious. Now, if you don't tell me all of the details, I'll push you off my balcony!" Shortly after Tiergan and I spied on Killa he had to go home for dinner, and Willa came running up to tell me the news.

"Okay, okay!" Willa threw her hands up in defeat. "After our work was done for Tiergan's plan, he teleported us back here to wait for you. We were going to spy, but then he pulled me over to this spot at the edge of the woods because he said he had a surprise for me."

"Aaaannnnddddd???" Ellie prompted.

"And then he asked if we could go to the ball together."

"Awwwww!!!"

"As friends!"

"Still. Let me have this. Besides, he totally likes you. And you like him back," stated Ellie.

I would have protested, but she was sorta right. It had taken me months to come to terms with it, but at this point I was like, 98% convinced that I actually did like Kenric. But I knew he didn't like me.

"Oh my gosh, you really do like him! You're turning NEON red!"

"Don't you dare tell him," I was able to squeak out before going back to dying under a rock. But as my face slowly turned into a tomato, I realised something. If we were going to be going to go to the galla, we needed dresses. And we had just enough time for me to pry Ellie out of her overalls and into a ball gown.

"Whyyyyyyyyyyy," Ellie moaned as I pulled her into yet another dress shop.

"Becaaaaauuuuussssseeeee," I mocked her.

"This feels like punishment."

"It's not punishment! I'm taking my best friend out dress shopping!"

"Exactly. I give up, I'm going to the galla in my paint clothes. None of these dresses are something I'd actually wear! They're waaaay too fancy. And uncomfortable."

"That's it!" I exclaimed.

"We're sending me to the galla in PJs?!" Ellie asked hopefully.

"No! We'll design our own dresses! With my mom! That way it'll be something you actually like and want to wear. Plus, they'll be totally unique!" I could see her hesitate, but she knew she wouldn't be getting any better options.

"Fiiiiiine. Do you think your mom would let me design an overall gown?" The answer was probably not, but my mom could work miracles. Maybe she could actually turn overalls into a dress fit for Cinderella.

"We'll ask."
