Jennie's POV
I woke up in an unfamiliar room, my memories still fuzzy of the recent events. Where am I and how did I get here?
My thoughts were cut when the door opened, revealing my mom carrying a tray of food, followed by my dad.
"Oh, thank heavens, you're awake!" Mom rushed to me, placing the tray on the nightstand. "How are you feeling, dear?"
"I'm fine." I smiled at them to free them from their worries. "What happened? I remember, there was a fire and... Well, I blacked out."
"Everything is fine now, sweetie," Dad said in his comforting tone while patting my head like I was a child. He always treated me like his little girl.
"I brought you some food, are you hungry?" Mom asked and I just shook my head as a response. I wasn't in the mood to eat. I have too many questions.
"Where are we?" It was the next question that reached my mouth. My mother smiled widely, as if in victory.
"It will take some time for our house to be rebuilt," Mom said. "Thankfully, Jisoo offered us to stay in their house for the mean time. So, here we are."
I looked at Dad and he just gave me a nod. He was also smiling. Such weird parents. Why do they look so fine with it?
"Why do we need to share a house and burden other people?" I asked, looking at them with suspicion. "We can literally buy ten more houses if we want to."
"Why go through all the trouble when we have a kind neighbor willing to have us?" My mom said mischievously as she shrugged her shoulders. "Besides, she was the one who kept insisting."
"Still-"
Speaking of the devil, Jisoo spoke up from the outside after knocking on the door. My mom told her to enter and in not even a minute, her head peaked in before slowly entering. She greeted us with a smile as she scratched the back of her head shyly.
"Sorry, Mr. and Mrs. Kim," Jisoo began. "I didn't mean to interrupt your bonding, I just wanted to check on Jennie. Uhm, I should probably-"
She was cut off when Mom pulled her, making her sit on the bed beside me.
"You kids talk," Mom said, pulling Dad with her as she walked backwards to the door. "Your dad and I have matters to deal with."
And with that, they left us both in awkward silence. It didn't last long, however, for Jisoo suddenly chuckled shortly after my parents are gone.
"You have such an adorable mom," she said smiling softly. "Now I know where the great Jennie Kim got her charms."
She chuckled once again and I just couldn't help not to giggle with her.
"Thank you for letting us stay here," I said but she just shook her heard.
"No," she said, smiling with mixed emotions I couldn't point out. "You're actually doing me a favor by staying here with me. It could get incredibly lonely around here."
"You'll regret saying that in a few days." I shrugged, making her laugh like an angel.
"Anyway, were you hurt during the fire? How are you feeling?" Her caring voice sounded so sweet and unreal that it made my heart flutter in awe.
"I'm fine. No bruises or any scratch, luckily." She sighed in relief as she nodded her head. She didn't stay long in my room. After making totally sure that I was fine, comfortable, and all set, she left to let me rest.
Jisoo's POV
I went straight to my room after checking on Jennie. I winced in pain as I removed my jacket which covered my bloodstained shirt. I guess my wound opened up again when I was helping Mrs. Kim with her stuffs.
