Chapter 2: New Troupe

Charlie walks threw the main doors of The Next Step, and looks around trying to find a sign to point her in the direction of J-Troupe rehearsal.

A boy spins around her with a smile, "Lost girl, we meet again. I thought I told you Studio A was down that hallway? How are you lost again?"

"For your information I'm not looking for Studio A" Charlie said annoyed at the boy.

"Then what are you looking for?" says the boy.

"Studio J" said Charlie.

His eyes brightened up, "Studio J? Are you joining J-Troupe?"

"Miss Kate said I could come see the team and then make my decision." Said Charlie.

The Brown haired boy in the interview chair, "This is really unusual for Miss Kate. For anything like this to happen she must like you or your really good. Everyone knows she doesn't usually let others make decisions."

"So, where is Studio J?" said Charlie.

"Follow me" the boy said grabbing his dance bag from a seat nearby.

The Brown haired boy in the interview chair says with a smile, "Whoever this girl is, I can tell we are going to be good friends"

Charlie in the interview chair says with a frown, "Whoever this boy is, get him as far away from me as possible."

As they got closer to Studio J, Charlie realized she never asked the boys name.

"Hey, what's your name?" said Charlie.

"You don't know my name?" The boy said putting a hand to his chest to act being hurt.

"In my defense, you never told me" says Charlie.

"In my defense, you never asked" The boy said as he entered studio J walking backwards.

A boy with curly hair then ran over and yelled, "Noah! I got my front Ariel, you want to see?"

"Of course Chad!" The boy said excited for his friend.

The curly haired boy ran out and completed the front Ariel and landed perfectly. Him and Noah then high five. They both then made their way back over to Charlie.

"Good job" said Charlie

"Thank you, I'm Chad, what's your name?"

"Charlie" she said.

"Didn't expect that lost girl" said Noah.

"You didn't know my name either! We're even" said Charlie

"No we aren't, I didn't admit it and you did. That makes me the clear winner." Says Noah.

Chad in the interview chair says, "I can already tell this is going to be a long year with these two"

Chris the choreographer finally enters the room and raises his arm above his head, "Dolphin tail" and then makes a weird sound and all the kids follow.

"As you guys can tell we have a new girl trying out the team today. This is Charlie from Wisconsin, please make her feel welcome." Says Chris as he motions over to her.

"So today will be working on improv. So we are all going to stand in a big circle, one person is going to start and whatever move you end with the next person has to start with. If you can't do it or mess up your out until there is one person left. Lets do this J-Troupe." Says Chris.

Chris in the interview chair, "I hope with this activity the kids will think outside the box, challenge each other, and of course have fun. I'm excited to see what Charlie can bring to the table."

Charlie in the interview chair, "The game sounds fun, and of course I love winning so I like it even more. I want to get this kid Noah out, he seems really weird and he keeps getting on my nerves."

Noah in the interview chair, "I'm so excited to dance, I've been counting down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds since the last class. J-Troupe really feels like home."

Camille, a blond J-trouper, in the interview chair, "Oh please don't let Noah win. He would never stop talking about it. Noah is what we call a dance-o-cholic. He doesn't stop."

"OK J-Troupe, lets do this thing. Chad your first" Chris says as he turns on the music.

Chad begins his dance and ends with a pirouette. Noah then pirouettes and then turns it into a turning combo, then side Ariels out of it. Charlie side Ariels and then turns it into a back handspring step out and then does an illusion. Camille goes to do an illusion but falls out of it. The game continues until its just Chad, Noah, and Charlie left. Charlie then finally gets Chad out when she does a cartwheel on her head.

Noah in the interview chair, "It's the final showdown and I don't know how many more tricks I have. Everything I can do, she can too."

Charlie in the interview chair, "I kind of want to go easy on him, but my competitive side is just screaming 'Murder Him Charlie! Take Out The Hard Moves!' and of course that sides going to win."

Chris in the interview chair, "I should probably stop them, practice ended fifteen minutes ago, but I kind of want to see how it ends."

"Last time J-Troupe! Lets hit it!" Chris says as he turns of the music.

The duo go back and forth trying to one up each other without any luck until Charlie goes to the far corner and does her Back extension roll double back handspring layout. She lands it and turns to Noah, challenging him to try it. He goes to the corner and does the back extension roll, he goes into the double back handspring and stops. He lands his back handspring and then raises his hands and falls to the floor dramatically, "I surrender Charlie, no more. Your killing me"

Charlie in the interview chair says with a smirk, "Told you that competitive side would win"

Camille in the interview chair with a smile says, "Noah has been dethroned! I really hope Charlie stays, she would be a great addition to the team"

Noah in the interview chair out of breath, "What is in that Wisconsin water that made her such a good dancer? How did she not make it in to A-Troupe?"

Charlie walks over and reaches a hand down to help Noah up. He gladly takes it and says, "So does this mean your joining J-Troupe?"

"If I get to destroy you every practice, thousand percent yes." Says Charlie sarcastically

Charlie in the interview chair, "Of course I'll join the team, I can't not dance, I'd die without it."
