After the defeat of Seeker the Rare Hunter and learning of the identity of the true mastermind behind the Rare Hunters, the group separated as they all were getting started on their Battle City tournament journey. Joey and Amikou were walking together as the Brooklyn teen looked through his newly updated deck with a grin.
Joey: Heh heh! Dese cards are gonna give me a heavy boost for da tournament! Watch out Battle City cause Joey Wheeler's shooting for da top!
Amikou: Heh, You seem confident.
Joey: You betta believe it, Ami! I'm so pumped I'm ready to duel da first person I see!
He starts to head out to challenge anyone before Amikou's eyes widen as she quickly grabbed onto Joey's ear to bring him back as he yelps in pain.

Amikou: Hold it right there buster.... what do you think you're doing?
Joey: Ah! A-ami, not da ear. Not da ear!!
Amikou let's go of Joey as he holds his ear in pain as she crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow at the Brooklyn teen.
Amikou: What exactly is your plan here? Pick some random duelist to a duel?
Joey: Y-yeah, pretty much...
Amikou: You were going to rush right into a duel before you even check what most of the new cards you got do first?......
Joey nodded with a confused look before Amikou sighed, holding the bridge of her nose before she lightly smacked Joey upside the head.
Amikou: It's thinking like that is what gets you caught up in a lot of bad situations, Joey.
Joey: Ow! Den what would you suggest?!
Amikou: How about actually looking through the new cards, understand the rules and seeing what combos you can make.... ya know, like how Jason plays.
Joey's eyes widen as he looks back at his deck for a moment, looking through the cards carefully, reading the effects and seeing which cards worked with which monsters. Amikou watched as she could see the clear intention to learn on Joey's face. After a few moments, Joey smiled as he felt more confident in his deck as well as his cards.
Joey: Okay... I think dat should be good enough to duel now.
Amikou: I really hope you do great Joey, you've changed a lot since Duelist Kingdom.
The two exchange as silent smile at each other before they heard a crowd cheering on as Joey turns to see another duel going on in the street.
Joey: Hey, a duel! Let's go check it out!
Joey started to run forward as Amikou reluctantly followed as they made their way to the crowd, politely pushing themselves into the crowd to see the duel. Once the two made it to the front of the crowd, they saw Rex Raptor having a hard time against a weird boy with light blue hair.
