Vivienne's Pov
"Congratulations" by Mac Miller plays softly in my headphones as I arrive at my locker. The familiar melody accompanies me as I open the door and begin placing my books inside, feeling the weight of the day's expectations.
Suddenly, I feel a gentle tap on my shoulder. I turn around to find Madeline beaming at me, her smile brightening the hallway.
"Hey!" she smiles, pulling me into a warm hug. After we part, she kindly asks with genuine interest how I'm doing today.
"Aw, you look so pretty! I love your outfit, it's so girly!" she compliments, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
I glance down at my own outfit. It's simple yet cute—a fitted white henley top with the first few buttons casually undone, paired with blue flared jeans that give me a touch of vintage flair. On my feet, I wear black ballet flats adorned with delicate bows. My hair cascades in its natural wavy state, clipped back on either side to keep my face framed. I've opted for minimal jewelry today, a heart locker gold necklace, small hoop earrings, and a couple of cute rings that compliment it all together.
"Aw, thank you. You look absolutely beautiful too." I reply sincerely, admiring her effortless style. She always knows how to put herself together in a way that turns heads.
"Thank you!" she responds, her smile widening as if it could illuminate the entire room.
"Okay, I've gotta go now, I'll see you at lunch!" she calls out, her voice ringing with excitement as she waves goodbye and hurries down the hall.
As I stand there, holding my books tightly against my chest, I feel a wave of warmth wash over me. Mad's positivity is infectious, and I can't help but smile. I take a moment to gather my thoughts before heading to my next class, the sound of my footsteps echoing in the corridor as I reflect on the little moments that brighten my day.

After class, I gather my things and head to my locker, the noise of the bustling hallway fading into a dull roar around me. I sigh, frustrated by the students who push past me without a second thought. Why are people so rude? It wouldn't hurt them to step aside a bit instead of shoving others out of the way like they're the only ones that matter. I try to shake off the annoyance as I approach the cafeteria.
The moment I enter, the smell of freshly baked pastries and brewed coffee fills the air, momentarily distracting me from my thoughts. I make my way to the counter, where I order a flaky croissant and a frothy cappuccino. After thanking the worker with a shy smile, I grab my food on a tray, feeling a bit more at ease with something warm in my hands.
I scan the crowded cafeteria, looking for Mads. Where is she? The tables are filled with students laughing and chatting, the clatter of trays and voices blending into a chaotic symphony. Just then, I spot her waving from a distance. Relief washes over me as I see her sitting with Nate, Camden, and a few other guys, their laughter ringing out amid the noise. Oh.
