The next day, Y/N did her best to maintain a facade of normalcy despite the swirling thoughts of Oikawa and the jealousy she had felt when Rin had approached him. She tried to focus on her classes and not let her feelings interfere, but it wasn't easy. Her concentration was frequently broken by daydreams and fantasies about Oikawa, leaving her restless and distracted.
At her locker between periods, Y/N was organizing her books when the locker door suddenly slammed shut. Startled, she turned to see Rin and her entourage standing nearby, their faces set in smirks that made Y/N's stomach drop.
"Hey, Y/N," Rin said with an edge of menace in her voice, her tone dripping with fake sweetness. "We need to talk."
Y/N's heart raced. "What's this about?"
Rin leaned in slightly, her voice dropping to a threatening whisper. "I'd appreciate it if you kept your distance from Oikawa. He's not someone you want to get too close to."
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise, and she could feel the pressure building in her chest. "And why should I listen to you?"
Rin's smile grew colder, her gaze narrowing. "Because if you don't, things could get... uncomfortable. For you, I mean."
Y/N's frustration flared. "I don't take orders from you. I'm not doing anything wrong."
Rin's entourage exchanged looks of shock and amusement as they watched the confrontation. Y/N's defiant stance seemed to fuel Rin's anger.
"Are you sure about that?" Rin taunted, crossing her arms. "Because if you keep this up, you might find yourself in a difficult situation."
Y/N's jaw clenched, her hands balling into fists at her sides. Before she could respond, Iwaizumi happened to walk by and noticed the tension. His eyes widened in recognition of the situation.
"Hey, Y/N!" Iwaizumi called out, his voice cutting through the charged air. "You're here! C'mon, the teacher's looking for you!"
Y/N looked at Iwaizumi with a mixture of relief and gratitude. Iwaizumi quickly stepped between her and Rin's group, effectively blocking their path and guiding Y/N away from the scene.
"Thanks for that," Y/N said, her voice low and shaky.
"No problem," Iwaizumi said, his expression softening. "I couldn't just stand by and let that happen."
They walked down the hallway, away from the prying eyes and whispering voices. Y/N tried to steady her breathing, the confrontation with Rin leaving her feeling unsettled. Iwaizumi noticed her distress and gave her a concerned look.
"Are you alright?" he asked, stopping in a quieter part of the school where they could talk without interruptions.
Y/N took a deep breath before answering. "Yeah, I'm okay. It's just... that whole situation was so frustrating. Rin and her friends seem to think they can control who gets close to Oikawa. It's really getting to me."
Iwaizumi nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "I've noticed that things have been a bit tense with you and Oikawa lately. Is there something more going on?"
Y/N hesitated, then nodded. "I... I like him. But everything is so complicated. I'm not sure what to do."
Iwaizumi listened attentively, his expression a mix of sympathy and encouragement. "It's clear that Oikawa means a lot to you. If you have feelings for him, it's important to be honest about them. I know it's not easy, especially with all the pressure from Rin and her friends."
Y/N managed a small smile, feeling a bit of relief from Iwaizumi's words. "I appreciate that. It's just hard to figure out what's real and what's just in my head."
Iwaizumi placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder knowing well that his captain also had feelings for Y/N. "Sometimes, it's about taking things one step at a time. If you really care about Oikawa, then try to focus on what makes you happy. Don't let others dictate your feelings or your actions."
As they stood in the hallway, the bell rang, signaling the end of their conversation and the start of the next class. Iwaizumi gave Y/N a final, encouraging nod. "Remember, it's okay to have feelings and to be honest about them. Just take it one day at a time."
Y/N nodded, feeling a renewed sense of determination. She was grateful for Iwaizumi's support and decided to approach her situation with a clearer mind. As she headed back to her classroom, she felt a bit more equipped to handle the challenges that lay ahead, including the complicated feelings she had for Oikawa and the obstacles thrown her way by Rin and her friends.
