"Alina!"

Turning in surprise her heart drops as she watches her parents storming over.

"Oh fuck" She whispers. Mrs Flint must have said something, decided to finally show up, and it wasn't even for her. She looked around, there were way too many people in here. The great hall for dinner she was going to grab her food and leave.

"Ah my parents nice to see you fi-" She doesn't finish as a sharp slap snaps her head to the side as she licks the inside of her cheek not even surprised as her mother glares down at her.

"Good to see you too" She sarcastically says.

"You fucking bitch" Her father hisses as she doesn't even need to look around to know that all eyes are on them.

"Causing a scene again father? Seems like you love doing that" Her father grabs her wrist squeezing it so tight she starts losing feeling. "Let go" She winces trying to pull back.

"You are the biggest disappointment ever" "Well that's an achievement" She snorts the familiar feeling of wishing it would end enters her.

"Do you know how embarrassing it is to get a howler from the Flint's about your attitude to them?" Her mom says. "Do you know how embarrassing it is to be the only kid without parents on parent day?" She sasses back.

"Talk back one more time I dare you" Her father says. "Well that is how a conversation works" She winks at her father. She was scared out of her mind but best to not let anyone else see.

Her father raises a hand as she turns, closing her eyes waiting for the blow. "Do not touch me" Her father says disgustedly. Opening her eyes she sees Mr Wood holding her fathers wrist inches from her face as Oliver grabs her by the waist pulling her away from them as Mrs Wood places a hand on her shoulder.

She was even more scared now.

"Don't touch the girl and we won't have a problem," Mr Wood says. Hands shaking she thought she would pass out. She can't be seen with them. Can't be seen with half bloods.

"Don't touch my daughter half blood" Her mother snaps looking at Oliver. "Do not talk to my son like that" Mrs Wood stands straighter. "S-stop, I'm fine. It's fine" She pulls out of Oliver's grip as he looks at her confused when she goes back to her parents' sides.

It was for them. Protecting them.

"I'm fine" She looks at them hoping they see the desperation in her eyes. "Touch me again Wood and see what happens to you, do not touch my daughter" He then moves to look at Oliver whose eyes are only on Alina's as he stares confused.

"Al-" Oliver starts. "I said I'm fine! Leave me alone!" She screams. It was for his safety. Protect him. Oliver's face contorts into a hurt expression.

"Go away half blood!" She spits out. Oliver's jaw clenches. His parents seem to understand though and give Alina one last look before steering their son away.

"What I was-" Oliver stutters confused. "She was protecting you Oliver. Or at least she thinks she is, her parents are not good people and they have connections, I've seen that look before. She is scared you'll get hurt" Mr Wood sadly turns to see Alina getting dragged out by her parents. "

What if I'm scared she will get hurt?" He longly looks after the girl. "Just be there for her son, be there"

Alina winces as she pulls her robe on to cover the fresh scars from the day before. At least her parents didn't know she was friends with Oliver, she probably would have been killed. She thinks of what happened yesterday.

"Psst, Lina" Turning she sees Oliver around the corner. Sighing she turns and follows him looking around before going into the closet.

"Lina? That's a new one, "she says. "Well you have two so I thought I should have two" She nods.

"Are you ok?" He asks scanning her over. "Of course, why wouldn't I be?"

"Go away half blood" Oliver raises an eyebrow leaning against the wall. Alina winces. "I know you didn't mean it, but it did mean you were scared enough to have to say it"

"I wasn't scared, I don't get scared" she raises her chin. Oliver stares at her intently making her shift uncomfortably.

"It's fine, I'm fine" "You're a liar" He scoffs and she pulls out her best fake smile. "Yes I am, come on, we have class"
