Bill had been silent about what had happened when he and dipper were in the woods. He hadn't talked about it. Every time dipper brought it up he eluded the topic like it was a flashing red stop sign.
Dipper sighed and scribbled things down in his journal. Of course he'd gone back to the spot it happened without bill knowing and checked it out but overall bill had been very protective about it. And surprisingly bill recently had spent a lot of the time out in the woods by himself. Dipper couldn't catch up with him to keep an eye on him whatsoever.
Dipper wrote all of this down in his journal and closed it putting it aside. He tucked it neatly into his bedside drawer and and leaned back against the wall behind his bed. Mabel was sitting over on the other side of the room reading some girly book that dipper wasn't interested in so he didn't bother to ask.
Mabel wasn't really dipper's concern though so he went back to thinking about bill and what happened to them. It was so instant, the black, opaque fog. Dipper couldn't help but notice a similarity between how fast the blackness rolled in to the instantaneous effects of black and white when bill used to bring them into the mindscape.
Dipper really hopped that there was no correlation ,but seeing how bill seemed to recognize the voice dipper assumed it had all to do with some demonic presence.Dipper shook his head and looked out the window. He should have known something like this would have happened eventually the longer he kept bill around. After all, bill had brought friends from the mindscape the first time around so there was no reason there wouldn't be more demons that could possibly hold a grudge against bill. Not to mention how big the mindscape had been described to be to dipper in the past. Ford said the whole place was nearly endless. Of course, Ford doesn't talk about it often but when he does dipper is always more then willing to lend an open ear.
There was a light pinging sound from dipper's phone that sat beside his leg and he quickly picked it up to look at the notification.
It was Ford .
The message was as follows:
Dipper, I need your help down stairs in the basement. Cube quick!Cube? Dipper decided it was a typo and responded:
On my way, grunkle Ford.Dipper sighed and hauled himself up from his bed. Mabel was too absorbed in her book to notice dipper leaving the room, seeing how Mabel didn't even wave to him. Dipper walked down to the basement 'door' and opened it up and headed down. The first thing dipper noticed was the glowing orange light that would fade in and out.
He got downstairs to Ford and he was looking through the observation glass at the next sealed off room. That's where the light was coming from but dipper couldn't see exactly what was making it."Dipper!" Ford said. "You're just in time! Put on a pair of sunglasses to your right and then follow me." Ford opened the door to the room he was looking into and went in.
Dipper examined the area. It was messier then he remembered. He looked to his left to see a couple pairs of sunglasses hanging on a coat rack and picked one of the solid black pairs and put them on. The room was instantly darker and the orange light didn't hurt his eyes as much anymore. He followed grumble Ford inside to see him looking at a small glowing ball floating mid air that was letting off the light.
"This here is a sensor, dipper. And do you have a guess about what it detects?" Ford asks.
"Um... weird, stuff?" Dipper answered.
"Precisely. This small little device detects weird energy from the nightmare realm."
"I see.... it's quite bright..."
"Yes, it is! Sometime yesterday it started acting up like this! The real kicker is that a week ago it was glowing as much as a almost burnt out lightbulb. And a month before that it's glowing was so dim you could only see it when the lights were off."
"So it's rapidly began to activate?"
"Yes, and that means?"
"That something from the nightmare realm has been working it's way here..."
"Unfortunately, that is correct too. But when I compare it to bill cipher, that's when things get interesting. Follow me back outside." Ford walked through the doors and dipper followed. The observation glass worked as a light blocker as well so they took off the sunglasses. Ford rummaged through a few old photos and picked up one of the glowing light ball. "This picture is what it looked like when bill first entered the third dimension." He picked up another photo. "And this is a photo of it now." The ball was glowing in both, but dipper couldn't help but notice the second picture was immensely brighter.
"Why is it glowing more now?" Dipper asked.
"More energy. Dipper," Ford suddenly got serious. "This energy is far greater then me or you," he was using the sunglasses to point. "It's greater then bill cipher himself. Do you know what that means?"
"Whatever just entered our dimension...."
"Yes?"
"Must have for greater power then even bill cipher."
"Precisely. It may even have enough power to already hold a physical form." Ford finished.
Dipper gulped hard. "S-so what does this mean?"
"For now?" Ford sighed. "I don't know. But what I do know is that we all need to be on our toes. I'd like your help in figuring this out."
"Well, of course grunkle Ford. I'm sure if we told Mabel too she would-"
"No! We mustn't involve her. The less people we involve the greater our chances of finding it are. Whatever it is doesn't know we are looking for it, and the more people we involve the more the risk is of it finding out. It'll just be the two of us. Do you think you can handle that?"
Dipper furrowed his eyebrows, "Of course... grunkle Ford."
It's a short chapter I know, but the next one should be pretty Long. Also, I've been considering writing a story for the Wattys awards this year. Just for the heck of it, you know? Think I've got skill enough to enter?
But yeah, again sorry for the short chapter.
