hi! so this is my first fanfic and i hope it's good but i can't promise anything (i have been told i'm a good writer). it's going to be one consecutive story and not one shots but there's no real conflict or huge cha...
The game with nekoma has started and we took the second set but they won the first... right now it's in a duce and they have match point 'Kageyama has been staring at me a lot this game i wonder why? is my hair sticking up or something???? i wonder what's wrong? maybe i-' my thought was cut off by something hitting me in the face out of nowhere, 'oooohhh that's right we're in the middle of a match! darn it that really hurt!' i get up a little wobbly and see kageyama walking towards me. 'ahhh what do i do what do i do what do i do???' "heya so i'm really super sorry kageyama i ah... ya see i... i spaced out! this is all my fault sorry we lost th-"
"oh shut it boke. are you- are you ok?" i feel my face heat up a little and i'm not sure how to respond 'DID KAGEYAMA JUST ASK ME IF I WAS OK?!??!! SOMETHING MUST BE WRONG! what if he's so mad that he doesn't want to yell at me in front of everyone?!!?' "never mind. forget i asked."
"kageyama!"
"what.?"
"I'm fine by the way. it wasn't the first time, pfft, and it probably won't be the last!"
"... good."
Because of me being stupid and distracted we lost the whole GAME, but i wanted to play more!! "Coach Nekomata! would it be possible for us to play another?"
"if it's ok with your coach and captain then it's fine with me!" Kageyama looked at suga extremely concerned and i wasn't sure why, but right after that suga ran over to Daichi and said something in his ear.
"really??" suga nodded, "well it's about TIME!" then daichi looked towards coach ukai and said, "sir i think we're all very tired and i'm not sure we can play another game." everyone seemed confused but daichi had that look in his eye and we all know better than to question him.
"well that's new, since when are you guys tired after three sets? ... oh well i guess that's it for today. everyone start picking up!"
(time skip brought to you by... well by me being lazy and thinking it would be boring to write about them cleaning)
Kageyama's POV
'ah wait shit shit shit shit shit we're done cleaning and now i have to tell hinata!! i cant do this! i cant do this! i cant do this! i have to do this! AHHH FFFU-' "soOOOoo kageyama ya gonna do it or are you going to wimp out at the last second?"
"i-i'm not a wimp. i don't know why i'm so NERVOUS!! why am i never nervous during a game but this- this terrifies me?!?"
"Kageyama breath its going to be ok," suga reassured me, "BUT you should do it now, we're in the city and they have so many cool places here. take him somewhere beautiful, we talked about what you have to say and i believe in you!! plus i can almost guarantee he feels the same! you have the whole night, i even got daichi to let out practice early for this so you CAN NOT chicken out!" after that talk i felt my nerves settle a little
'YA!! i can do this! it will be fine!!' i walk over towards hinata having what i want to say planed out and just praying i don't stutter, "Hinata!" i said it just a little bit to sharply and he looked nervous, "do you want to go explore the city?" he started BLUSHING??? 'maybe he does like me back!'
"YES! er... i mean... ya s-sure w-why not." 'he said yes oh my god i just realized i wasn't breathing that whole time'
"let's go then"
Hinata's POV
we walked all around the city: a tea shop and had some food, went to a museum (but that was kinda boring), luckily there was an aquarium right next door, we even went to a fair but i was to short to ride most of the rides so i made sure we left very quickly!! the whole time i couldn't quite shake the feeling that kageyama had something to say, he also seemed a little tense. the sun was about to set and we found a beautiful park FULL of pink cherry blossom trees. as we walk a little more we find a small river maybe six feet across and a wooden bridge spanning from one side to the other.

i couldn't help but stop right in the middle as i saw the sunset from the corner of my eye. the sky was glowing with every shade of red and orange and yellow and pink. "wow... this is- this is really, really beautiful." i whisper. kageyama turns to face me a determined yet caring look in his eyes and the sunset reflecting on his cheek. as i turn to him i bring our faces just a little closer than i would have liked taking a step back my face becomes even more red than it already was.
"Hinata, there is something i've wanted to tell you all day." he said never breaking eye contact, 'he seems really serious, could he- no that's ridiculous!'
"uh ya kags whatever it is you know you can tell me." 'what the HECK was that!!?? did i just call him KAGS did he notice???! OF COURES HE NOTICED' i look up and his face is, maybe, just as red as mine.
"well hinata i guess- sorry i'm not really sure where to start," he pauses and neither one of us moves for what was probably only 30 sec, but it felt like years. then all of the sudden, "SHŌYŌ HINATA I LIKE YOU!! but... but not just as a friend and... not just as a teammate. you have pushed me to become a better setter and a better person! when i'm around you i feel like i can be myself and not have to worry about coming off as rude or a jerk. you are the person i never thought i could have in my life and you make everyday new and exciting! if this is not what you want then i promise to respect your binderies and we can act like this never even happened. however, i really do like you so... will you be my boyfriend?" by the end of it kageyama was looking down at his feet clearly very nervous
i wasn't sure what to say 'did he just? YA HE DID!! i never- but ahhh what do i say?? i've waited to long, i have to do something!' without another thought i rap my arms around his waist and bury my face in his chest "yes. yes! YES! YES i would love to be your boyfriend!!" for a moment we just stand there like that then slowly he raps his arms around my solders and rests his chin on top of my head.
after a few minutes we sit down on the bridge just like we did on the buss with our heads resting on each others shoulders watching the sunset. but this time, this time was different. we were holding hands and this time we are together and both fully conscience at the same time. "kageyama?"
"mhm?"
"remember when i called you kags on accident?" i felt him tense up a little but then relax
"ya, why?"
"do you mind if i do it on purpose from now on?" there was a bit of a pause and then he said
"only if i can call you shō." my mind went completely blank and i wasn't really sure how to function as a human being anymore
"i uhh- sure ya why not... definitely, of course... YES! fantastic idea" 'shoot what is wrong with me!' "a-also kags, this was technically our first date!"
"...you're right it is." he said "and shō one last thing!"
"ya what is it?"
"don't expect me to go easy on you now just because we're dating!"
"oh please i bet i can beat you back to camp from here!" without another word kageyama was sprinting over the bridge and to the other side "NO FAIR YOU GOT A HEAD START!!!!"
