The warm glow of the evening sun cast a gentle light on Rajat's office, illuminating the lines of fatigue etched on his face. He sat behind his desk, his eyes fixed intently on Aman, who stood opposite him, rattling off a stream of details about the upcoming meetings and the newly acquired contract.
Rajat's mind was still reeling from the chaos of the past few days. His marriage to Savi, the drama surrounding Aashika's return, and the emotional turmoil that had ensued had left him feeling drained and disconnected from his work. He rubbed his temples, trying to ward off the headache that was beginning to form.
Aman, sensing his friend's distraction, slowed his pace, enunciating each word carefully as he went over the schedule for the next day. Rajat nodded along, his eyes scanning the papers on his desk, trying to absorb the information.
As Aman finished his update, Rajat leaned back in his chair, letting out a deep sigh. He felt like he was playing catch-up, trying to regain control of his life and his business. The past few days had been a blur, and he was determined to get back on track.
"Thanks, Aman," Rajat said, his voice a little gruff from fatigue. "I appreciate you keeping things running smoothly while I...dealt with everything else."
Aman smiled sympathetically, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "That's what I'm here for, Rajat. Now, get some rest, okay? You look like you could use it."
" Moreover, you should rather enjoy your new wedding life than just stressing here and there Rajat." Aman chuckled collecting all the files back.
Aman's teasing remark brought a hint of a smile to Rajat's face, and he chuckled at his friend's silliness. "Yeah, yeah, I know," Rajat said, shaking his head in amusement. "But I've been married before, remember? I'm not exactly a newlywed who's going to spend the rest of the week on a romantic honeymoon."
Aman grinned, unfazed by Rajat's attempt to downplay the situation. "That may be true, but this is different," Aman said, wagging his finger. "You're married to Savi now, and she's...well, she's amazing. You should be celebrating, not stuck in this office."
Rajat said, "this marriage is more sort of agreement I guess. Savi never bothered to check on me. For whom should I go ?"
Aman's expression turned thoughtful, and he nodded slowly. "I see. So, it's more of a practical arrangement, then? And Savi's not really...invested in the relationship?"
Rajat shrugged, his voice taking on a slightly detached tone. "Yeah, that's about right. I mean, she's been taking care of the kids and the house, but...it's all just very formal, you know? She's never really checked in on me, or asked how I'm doing. It's like we're just two people living in the same house, rather than...husband and wife."
" I guess it's your fault Rajat. All a women want is attention. You never gave her, thats why she is behaving this way." Aman said.
Rajat's eyes narrowed slightly, and he looked away, his expression introspective. Aman's words struck a chord, and he couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt. He had been so caught up in his own emotions and struggles that he hadn't stopped to consider Savi's needs.
"You're right," Rajat said finally, his voice low and thoughtful. "I've been so caught up in my own stuff that I haven't really...paid attention to her. I just assumed she was okay with everything, but...I guess I was wrong."
Aman nodded, his expression serious. "Women want to feel seen and heard, Rajat. They want to know that they're important to you. And if you're not giving them that attention, they're going to withdraw. It's not rocket science."
"But I am scared Aman. It felt if I start befriending her, she will climb on me and eat me raw. Last night I just ask her why isn't she sleeping. She avoided the question gracefully." Rajat said.
