The sun was high in the sky, casting soft warmth over the city of Barcelona. The group had planned to enjoy a quiet afternoon together — just some drinks on a sunny terrace, laughter, lightness. After everything they'd been through, they deserved a moment to breathe.

But Y/n... she didn't feel right.

She'd woken up feeling off again. A strange, sharp nausea had stirred in her belly, and now, dull aches were starting to grow heavier. It wasn't like last time. This was different. The pain was deeper. But she told herself — It's normal. Pregnancy comes with pain. This is just part of it.

She didn't want to worry anyone again. Not after they'd already gone through so much.

So when Zoe came into the room, dressed in a cute green summer outfit and smiling, Y/n smiled back — weakly.

"You sure you don't wanna come, babe?" Zoe asked, sitting beside her on the bed.

Y/n nodded. "I'm just tired. I barely slept last night," she lied gently. "I think I'm just gonna stay in. Netflix, sleep, maybe cuddle with Mochi a bit."

Zoe frowned. "Then we stay too. Right, guys?" she called out.

From the hallway, Lamine, Pau, Fermín and Hector all agreed in unison. "We're not going without her."

"No, no!" Y/n quickly interrupted, forcing herself to sound more cheerful. "You guys should go. Seriously. I'll feel better knowing you're out relaxing."

Hector walked in, his brow furrowed. "Are you sure?"

"I'm fine," she said, reaching for his hand and squeezing it. "Promise. Go have fun. I just need to rest."

It took some convincing — mostly from her — but eventually, they all gave in. Mochi was curled up beside her, and she looked cozy under her blanket. Nothing seemed wrong.

Before leaving, Hector knelt beside the bed, kissed her temple, and whispered, "Call me if anything feels off. I'll come straight home."

Y/n nodded. "I love you."

"I love you more."

As the front door closed behind the last of them, silence settled over the apartment.

Y/n lay still for a while, staring up at the ceiling, her hand resting on her belly.

She whispered softly, "You're okay in there, right?"

And then came the pain.

Sudden. Sharp. Crippling.

Her whole body tensed as a wave of cramps rolled through her, stealing the breath from her lungs. She clutched the blanket, trying not to scream. Another sharp pain hit her lower abdomen, so strong it made her vision blur.

"No..." she gasped, sitting up.

And then came the blood.

She felt it first — warm, sudden, terrifying.

Panicking, Y/n tried to stand. Her legs wobbled, her body trembling under the weight of what was happening. She reached for the nightstand, her fingers fumbling for her phone, but before she could grab it, the pain surged again.

Her knees buckled.

Everything went black.

She hit the floor with a soft thud — her body crumpled, unconscious — as a pool of blood began to stain the floor beneath her.

Mochi barked. Once. Twice. Then louder. The tiny dog pawed at her shoulder, whining, confused and scared.

Two hours passed.

The group returned, laughing lightly as they entered the house. Hector carried a paper bag of pastries Y/n liked. "We bring offerings!" he called out.

No answer.

"Maybe she's asleep," Zoe whispered, walking ahead toward the hallway.

But Mochi's bark pierced the silence — frantic, high-pitched, scared.

Zoe froze.

Lamine stepped in quickly. "That doesn't sound normal."

They all rushed toward the bedroom — and then stopped.

Hector's heart stopped.

Y/n lay on the ground, motionless.

Blood.

Blood on the floor.

Blood on her clothes.

Mochi was sitting beside her, barking and whining, confused and terrified.

"No, no, no—" Hector dropped the bag and ran to her. "Y/n?! Baby?!"

He dropped to his knees and shook her gently. Her skin was cold, her lips pale.

Zoe screamed. "CALL AN AMBULANCE!"

Fermín was already on his phone, voice shaking. "Sí! It's an emergency — a pregnant girl, she's bleeding and unconscious—"

Pau pulled Mochi away while Lamine grabbed towels and tried to help stop the bleeding.

Hector was crying. "Stay with me, baby. Please. Please wake up..."

Zoe knelt beside them, hands trembling, her voice broken. "Is she breathing?!"

"I don't know," Hector sobbed, brushing her hair back. "I don't know!"

The room was chaos. A nightmare. Everything had fallen apart in seconds.

Sirens echoed in the distance.

And Hector held Y/n tighter than he ever had, silently begging the universe not to take her away.

Not again.

Not like this.
