hidden feelings

WITH THE SLEEPING BEAUTY performance being at the end of the week and the showcase for kiss the week after, chaerin was exhausted. she has spent some time studying for a test, and then went on her way to rehearsals.

then she stayed back a bit to practice a bit more before rehearsing her opener. after that she took a bus thirty minutes to her pointe show store, buying three pairs of pointe shoes.

once she was done with that she took the bus back to her uncle moon's house, and then after a long shower and a nice comfort takeout meal, chaerin lay in her bed on her phone.

she was texting dae and yuri at the same time, dae and her talking about their most recent chemistry test, and yuri and her talking about what chaerin and her backup dancers were going to wear.

chaerin was feeling a bit tired, but even though she was, minho lingered on her mind. it had been about two days since moon had told her that minho said he loved her.

she still couldn't figure out why he didn't tell her around the time they went to the dance together. chaerin thought she had made it clear enough that she liked him, especially since she said yes to his promposal.

but she hadn't, so minho kept his underlying feelings to himself.

someone knocked on the door rhythmically, which was usually the way moon knocked on chaerin's door before entering. "come in!" chaerin said.

she put her phone down, wondering what moon had to ask or tell her. but chaerin's mouth slightly fell when she saw the tall boy in her door way.

minho was looking at chaerin with his hands in his pocket, and he cleared his throat as she stepped in further.

"what are you...what are you doing here?" chaerin asked. "well..i was looking for you." minho said.

"i went to your dorm to talk to you, and eunice told me you hadn't come to the dorm in two days. so then i figured you weren't at a hotel, so you were staying with someone. so i asked yuri if she you were with her, and when she said no i knew you were here." minho said.

chaerin's eyes darted around the guest bedroom, landing on minho again. "how'd you know i didn't go with my grandma in bukjeon?" she asked.

"too much of a commute for you to go to school and ballet from there. your motion sickness would kick in, and you don't like taking the medicine." minho said

she knew minho knew her well, and in the back of her head chaerin knew that if someone were to find were she was instead of her dorm, it was going to be minho.

chaerin sighed as she fiddled with her sheets, clueless on what to do. minho closed the door behind him, leaning against one of the walls.

"are you ready for your two performances?" he asked. "yeah, i guess." chaerin said.

"you're going to do great." minho said. "thanks." chaerin said.

silence took over the room, and minho shook his head. "look chaerin i'm sorry. but i told you my reasoning already. i'm still sorry of course, but it did look bad. but i can't make you believe me." he said.

chaerin turned her head to look at minho, sitting up as she looked at him sadly. "it's not that i don't believe you, i don't want to. it's kind of crazy to think about." she said.

"it is crazy i know." minho said. "i'm not mad at you though, i just don't really want to be living at the school right now." chaerin said.

"i've had time to cool down, but i don't think i'm ready to face stella again. and then the whole awkwardness between us...and like i also didn't want all my friends feeling bad for me after i watched my boyfriend slow—"

chaerin stopped her rant, looking at minho after she slipped up. he wasn't her boyfriend, they weren't even like...they didn't really fully admit their feelings. she admitted her feelings for him the night of the dance, oh my gosh.

she told him her feelings and just called him her boyfriend on accident. chaerin was internally freaking out at this point.

"boyfriend?" minho said, his accent coming out more as he smirked slightly at chaerin.

that stupid smirk.

"it was an accident." chaerin said. "i know it was rinnie," minho said. "but, i mean me as your boyfriend wouldn't be so bad." he said.

minho sat up from the wall, going to sit next to chaerin on the bed. "would it?" he asked, looking directly into her eyes.

chaerin began to fidget with her hands in nervousness. she looked around the room, still feeling minho's eyes on her.

he was staring at her as he awaited her answer even though he too, was nervous.

"i mean..no..it wouldn't be so bad." chaerin said. minho smiled, "well then..would it be so bad if i asked you on a date right now?"

minho slowly moved his hand towards chaerin's, and she could see his action from the corner of her eye. "it would be amazing." chaerin said.

she moved her hand towards minho's, "so no, it wouldn't be so bad." she said. there was no sound in the room, just the two of them staring in each other's eyes as they whispered quietly.

minho's eyes flicked down to chaerin's pink tinted lips, and then back up towards her eyes. he took her hand, holding it gently and running his thumb over the top of her hand.

"so how about we go for a picnic, since it's going to be hot?" minho said. "sounds great." chaerin said.

she smiled, her heart beating faster as her and minho got closer. chaerin slightly parted her lips and minho slowly got closer.

"chaerin did minho—oh."

minho and chaerin let go of each other's hands, moving apart from each other. "i was going to ask if he was still here but, i see he is." moon said.

"i'm going to eat the rest of my food." chaerin said, getting up quickly and leaving the room. she let out a breath as she did, in disbelief about what almost just happened.

minho was still sitting on the bed, looking at the ground as he ran his hands through his hair.

"you love her a lot don't you?" moon said. he was able to tell how his son felt even if he hadn't been in his life for a while.

the way he's eyes followed chaerin as she left the room, the way his shoulder dropped once she left. how minho's eyes were looking at each and every design in nervousness.

minho looked up once he had started at the pattern on the tile below him, slouching slightly.

"yes, yes i do."
