Loud footsteps echoed across the cafeteria floor as Allison, Harper, and several other popular girls closed in on Y/n's lunch table.

"What the f*ck is wrong with you, Kou?!" Allison exclaimed, anger pouring into her eyes.

Kou sighed, not even looking at her. "If this is about me not saying hi to you in the hallway, don't take it so personally. I just don't like you."

"We're talking about Miya, dumba**."

"What about her?" Kou asked dryly.

"She's dead, Kou." Harper replied, disturbed by his lack of guilt.

"Yeah...I know that."

His gaze met Allison's as she said, "It's all your fault. My friend is dead because of you." Hurt laced her voice, "Why would you lead her on if you were never interested?"

His brow furrowed. "The last time we spoke to each other was literally months ago. How could I have possibly led her on?"

"Liar!" a girl with straight black hair interjected. "Last week Chris said that you wanted to see her."

Kou's yellow eyes cornered Chris. "Really?"

Chris, mid-sip of his drink, choked and lowered his cup. "Technically I did say that, but that was because...we were doing some promotional stuff for the upcoming theater performances, and a couple of people on the stage crew wanted her to come. Right, Kou?"

Kou gave Chris a frustrated smile. "Oh, right. I never spoke to Miya, though; in fact, I avoided her the whole time."

Allison scoffed, "Then why would she tell people she was meeting you exclusively?"

"I don't know! I guess I was there, but there were also like 15 other people she could've mentioned."

Harper folded her arms, glaring. "I never heard about this."

"Well, sorry?" Chris shrugged, "I will say, however, that I purposely emphasized the fact that Kou would be there to entice her to come."

"Whatever, it doesn't change the fact that in her suicide note she said you made her feel like a worthless idiot. That you humiliated her every single day. Everyone knew she liked you. And you acted like she didn't exist."

"That's because she didn't. Not to me." Kou said sharply, "I never gave her any reason for her to believe I returned her feelings. And you know what? I'm not going to pretend that I did anything wrong so you have somebody to blame. Her death was her choice; she should've just moved on."

"Don't even f*cking start with that b*llsh*t!" Allison sneered.

"That's enough, Allison," Peter interrupted. "If you just want Kou to admit fault, you're not going to get it. So, give up; you're wasting everyone's f*cking time."

Allison sneered at her ex-boyfriend, "This doesn't involve you, Peter."

He smirked in response, "Not directly. But I vividly remember how you'd sh*t-talk Miya behind her back. If you want somebody to blame, look in a f*cking mirror."

Her eyes widened. "I—That's not true. I defended her!"

"No, you didn't. You constantly complained about her and how, as you put it, 'clingy' she was. It's f*cking hypocritical that now you're standing here pretending to be her best friend. We all know you're doing this just because it puts you on a moral high ground."

Allison's face flushed bright red from anger and embarrassment. Her jaw clenched. "You're just like your father: a really manipulative liar."

Peter's eye twitched as his smirk turned into a glare, watching as Harper and the other girls pulled Allison away.
