Chapter 23

Sophie's POV

"Do I have to?" Sophie whined as she and Sandor went down the stairs.

"Yes we had a deal," Sandor declared.

"Awww. But-"

"No buts." 

Under her breath, Sophie added, "You sound like a human." Then all too soon they were downstairs facing Grady and Edaline. 

"Hey. Grady. Edaline." Sophie said nervously. 

"Hey, kiddo. What's up?" Grady asked

"Umm. Well, I am kind of..." Sophie trailed off.

"You can tell us anything. You know that. Right?" Edaline asked gently.

"I know I just....." Sophie couldn't bring herself to say it.

"Please tell us, Sophie. It can't be that bad." Grady added.

"Why not?" 

"Sandor's not glaring." Sure enough, Sophie looked over and noticed Sandor was not glaring but... Smiling? Weird. 

"Fine. I uh-." Sophie decided to just blurt it out. "I'm dating someone." 

"That's wonderful," Edaline said. 

"Why would we be mad about that?" Grady asked. 

"Um. It's not the what it's the who..." Sophie was really nervous to tell Grady.

"Just tell us kiddo we won't care." Grady said, "Who is it."

"Keefe," Sophie admitted. Grady looked ready to explode.

"Why not Dex? He's sweet." Grady tried.

"Well, he kind of tried. But we found out we are better as friends."

"You what?" Edaline elbowed him "OK But what happened to Fitz?"

"He broke up with me because I wouldn't tell him who my biological mother is." 

"Well.." Grady seemed lost for words. Then suddenly he shouted "Tam!"

"Tam?" Sophie asked not liking that idea. It's not that she didn't like Tam just...

"Well, are you happy," Edaline asked. "And I don't mean pretend happy like with Fitz. I mean TRULY happy."

Sophie had to think but when she thought about what Fitz made her feel versus Keefe she knew. "Yes." 

"Well, I say we let her," Edaline stated. Grady sighed but nodded and that seemed to settle it. 

...

"That went better than expected," Sophie said still shocked Grady barely freaked out.

"I knew it wouldn't be as bad as you thought," Sandor said. 

Suddenly Sophie's imparter started ringing. Keefe. Sophie smiled and answered it. "Hey, Keefe." Her face fell when she saw Keefe's face. His eyes were red and puffy. He looked like he had been crying.

"Sophie." He said.

"Yeah, what's up?" Sophie asked concerned.

"Fitz is gone." 

"What do you mean gone?" Sophie asked on the brink of tears.

"I mean like gone. Biana said he came packed his things and left." Keefe told Sophie.
